 Tomato Grower's Supply 2005 catalog reads, "  Seed of this heirloom variety was
supposedly discovered in a pile of debris after the Great Flood of 1884.  It has survived to
this day because of the huge, superbly flavored fruit it produces in generous numbers.  Dark
pink tomatoes are at least 1 pound, and usually more toward 2 pounds, and juicy, brimming
with delicious, old-fashioned taste."

a small nursery later in life.  He acquired his seed from Bud Singler, who
acquired them from a service man who spent time in Australia before
coming home after serving in WWII.  Charlie, Joe's son, is the only source
of these seed now, he has tried to preserve the seed since his father died.  
For the last eight or so years the family has grown these plants for the public
and it is a local favroite.  Regular leaf plants produce fruit that are large, red,
heart-shaped tomatoes with few seeds.  It is a strong and productive tomato."
