Blue Fruit        Open Pollinated  Salad  Black  Indeterminate  78 days
Truth is I ordered this one because it said "blue" and I don't have a blue tomato.  OK, so it is
not a true blue color.  But "A distinctive purplish-gray hue is what gives this 'black' tomato its
name."  Unlike most black varieties, it has patato-leaved foilage, medium size, but has that sweet
fruity flavor we like in the black tomatoes.

great old tomato, Radiator Charlie’s Mortgage Lifter. This regular leaf producer delivers
superbly flavored 1-2 lb. fruit. The wonderfully big tomatoey flavor has delicious subtle
undertones."  quoted from Tomatofest.com

Tomato Growers Supply intoduced this last year and I missed it.  Don't miss it this year!

tropical fruit that suits it well to simple salads or slices with only a light drizzle of dressing."
Dana        Heirloom  Salad  Red  Determinate  65 days
I am trying this one because I have a very good veteran friend named Dana.  All I know
about it is this brief descripton, "Bright red, 6 oz. fruits, acidic in nature."  Pehaps if you grow
this one, you will say a prayer for our men & women in the armed services each time you
notice it in your garden.

Dona        Heirloom  Salad  Red  Indeterminate  75 days
From Tomatofest.com, "This excellent variety was bred by the French specifically for their
customers in markets, where flavor and quality standards are uncompromising. Slightly
flattened, almost seedless, round tomato with a sweet/acid balance (just like the commercial
hybrid) that few modern tomatoes can match. The heavily producing plants yield 6 ounce, juicy
fruits that are smooth, meaty, and deep-red in hue. Good disease resistance. "
Dorothy's Delight        Heirloom  Slicer  Red  Indeterminate  80 days
Featured by Al's Garden Centers in 2009, I grew it and saved the seeds.  It was promoted
as rather ugly but with outstanding size and taste.  My results were large, but less taste than I
had hoped for.  But worth trying, if you did not try it last year.
Dr. Lyle        Heirloom  Slicer  Pink  Indeterminate  80 days

size that really set this one apart."

Early Cascade        Hybrid  Salad  Red  Indeterminate  60 days
This highly desireable hybrid was off the market for a couple of years.  I found a source on

Tidwell German        Heirloom  Slicer  Red  Indeterminate  80 days

Trucker's Favorite        Heirloom  Slicer  Pink  Indeterminate  75 days
Seed Savers Exchange traces this one back to about 1912.  When I read, "Uniform 3" pink

Maybe this one would have helped save a dismal year.

Valley Girl        Hybrid  Slicer  Red  Determinate  65 days
I am always looking for varieties that will produce in the cool/hot/cool springs we have in
the Willamette valley.  This one sounds promising.  It should set and ripen its medium sized (7-
8 oz.) fruits even if the tempertures jump around.  Reported to be a good producer of firm,
smooth, crack resistant fruit.
Victor        Heirloom  Salad  Red  Determinate  65 days

Berkeley Tie-Dye Heart      Open Pollinated  Paste  Bi-color  Indeterminate  80 days

Very meaty, almost no juice.  Strong assertive flavor like Berkely Tie-Dye.
Big Mama        Hybrid  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  80 days
My tomato buddy Al keeps telling me how great this one is. The seeds are only offered by
Burpee so they are expensive seeds.  But nothing is too much for a good tomato buddy!  So if
you like to make delicious, creamy, thick sauce give Big Mama a try.  Burpee claims is peels
very easily after boiling.
Blush        Heirloom  Paste  Bi-color  Indeterminate  75 days
The seeds arrived too late for last years list, but I did grow out a couple of plants.   The 2"
long fruit have an unforgettable tropical sweet flavor reminiscent of pineapple.  Pick when the
pink blush starts to appear over the yellow background.  While nearly all of the fruit I picked
cracked, the taste was wonderful and well worth dealing with the split flesh.
Classica        Hybrid  Paste  Red  Determinate  76 days
Tomato Growers Supply 2005 catalog reads, " A beafutiful new pear tomato that may
become the replacement for Roma.  Fruits weigh about 3-1/2 ozs. and are nearly twice the size
of roma.  They also have significantly more flavor, which makes them great for eating fresh as
well as canning, freezing, or making into sauce or salsa.  Very strong plants set a heavy crop
and have less tendency for blossom end rot than other pear tomatoes."
Cream Sausage        Open Pollinated  Paste  White  Determinate  80 days
Seed Savers Exchange 2005 catalog reads, "NEW!  A unique new variety.  Creamy white to

salsa and for a fabulous colored sauce!"
Cuore di Bue        Open Pollinated  Paste  Bi-color  Indeterminate  85 days
When I saw this one featured in several catalogs, I figured I had to have it.  It certainly fits
the "unusual" category.  One of the largest saucing/paste tomatoes I've found, it is a squat pear
shape, measuring almost 4 inches.  The dense flesh in nice, but they say it also has better flavor
than other sauce types.  Add the orange/red skin, and you have a real eye and mouth catcher.
Debarao        Open Pollinated  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  72 days
Requested by Debbie.  She told me it was "the best tomato I've tasted".  Great taste
combined with early ripening and all season production should make this perfect for salsa
lovers, but it should also be great for salads and omlets.
Federle        Heirloom  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  85 days
"Beautiful 6-7" long paste tomato, rich full flavor unlike most other banana pepper-shaped

German Lunchbox        Heirloom  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  80 days
www.rareseeds.com reads, "This heirloom was brought into the seed store a few years ago
by a local gentleman who had been saving this tomato for many years. His family brought this
variety to the USA when they immigrated here. The fruit are the size of a small egg, vibrant
pink, sugar sweet, and begging to be eaten. Perfectly sized for salads or putting in the
lunchbox!"  Seems like a good canner, also.
Giant Paste        Open Pollinated  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  75 days
While roma shaped, Giant Paste is larger and juicer than the average roma type.  Claims of
plentiful yields and outstanding flavor made this one a must try.
Golden Rave        Hybrid  Paste  Yellow  Indeterminate  85 days
This may be the best replacement for the hybrid Italian Gold that I liked, but cannot get
seeds for anymore.  Indeterminate plants produce buckets of dandelion yellow, 3 inch long,
meaty fruit on concentrated clusters of 4-5.  Of course it is good for gourmet sauces, and its
color and flavor make it excellent for salsa, but I like to eat the fruit fresh.
Heinz 2653        Open Pollinated  Paste  Red  Determinate  75 days
They claim this Heinz out produces other paste types in cool weather.    3 1/2 - 4 foot plants

paste and/or salsa.
Icicle Black        Heirloom  Paste  Black  Indeterminate  85 days
I had the other three "Icicle" paste tomatoes last year, but the black seeds were sold out
before I got my order in.  While our short season and late ripening made a disappointing
combination last year, I am hopeful planting all four colors could make for the most colorful
and tasteful salsa you have ever made. Come long warm summer, please!
Icicle Orange        Heirloom  Paste  Orange  Indeterminate  85 days
www.rareseeds.com reads, "Sweet, rich and flavorful with strong citrus overtones made
this Jere’s favorite eating variety last season. We just couldn’t get enough of the sweet,
luscious, glowing orange icicle-like fruit that are like an extra long paste tomato. This variety
also makes a lovely orange ketchup and a superb salsa. It was a definite winner, and plants
were quite productive."
Icicle Pink        Heirloom  Paste  Pink  Indeterminate  85 days
www.rareseeds.com reads, "Very delicious, bright pink fruit are shaped like a dazzling pink
icicle. The flavor is very sweet and rich, being one of the best tasting pink paste types we’ve
tried. Perfect for salsas and preserving, but also one of our favorites last season to eat fresh out
of hand right in the garden. This variety was an incredible producer, and even though it has a
small amount of seeds per fruit, we were still able to get a large crop of seeds due to its
productiveness. Developed in the former Soviet Union, this is truly a masterpiece of tomato
breeding. Introduced by us from the Ukraine along with its yellow, orange and black sisters."
Icicle Yellow        Heirloom  Paste  Yellow  Indeterminate  85 days
www.rareseeds.com reads, "Bright lemon-yellow fruit are a little thicker in shape than the
other icicles in this series, being filled with cream-yellow colored flesh that is thick, sweet and
perfect for paste and canning. It is a very pretty tomato that is one of the best yellow paste
types you can grow, having a fine flavor and some juiciness; this variety also is incredible to eat
fresh. Another variety of the icicle tomatoes that we are introducing from the Ukraine this year."

cooking into a fragrant tomato sauce."

remember fondly this prolific variety with 4 to 6 inch long, tapered red fruits shaped like banana
peppers.  The tomatoes are very meaty and sweet with few seeds -- great for sauces, salsas, or
even eating fresh.  Color is a gorgeous bright red and yield is impressive."

San Marzano Gigante        Open Pollinated  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  90 days
Admitedly I am not a paste tomato fan.  I like mine juicy.  But San Marzano has caught my
taste buds attention.  So when I read that there is the same taste available in a much larger
package, 2 1/2 inches wide, 7 inches long, I want to see and taste it myself.  Yes, it is a late
season one, so don't bet all your sauce/salsa recipes on just this one.  But if you are up to a
tomato adventure, you just might like to try it, too.
San Marzano Redorta        Heirloom  Paste  Red  Indeterminate  78 days
This one was highly recommended to me because of its size and flavor, so I want to give it
a try.  Named for a mountain in Bergamo, the fruit is larger than San Marzano.  It is reported to
be meaty enough for cooking, but with flavor that will have us eating it fresh.  Being
indeterminate and flavorful should make it great for salsa.
